Lake Life

vintage picture black and white 1940s bathing suits and canoeing

I recently found some pictures of my grandparents at the lake from around 1948. While the picture is black and white, I can so easily imagine everything they might have experienced in full color. I never knew they had done trips like these until I found the pictures. They're the same type I enjoy with my family. We load up our canoe with bags, coolers, and the dog, and canoe across the lake to find a place to camp for the night. It's spectacular, and my favorite way to camp. During the day we explore the shore, canoe through coves looking for beavers and fish, and pick wild berries when they're available. There are no fireflies where I live in the PNW, but I remember them from my childhood explorations in Texas, and I imagine they were part of my grandparents' experiences on the lake. I hope you feel like you're transported to the lake with this collection.
